With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it is no surprise that online dating platforms such as Tinder are seeing a surge in user activity. According to Tinder, days leading up to Valentine's Day, there had been more active users, matches and activity in general as compared to a typical day.According to Tinder's Year in Swipe 2023, ahead of Valentine's Day there was a 10% increase in overall matches compared to an average day.
There has also been an increase of 30 million likes sent per day on average with a massive 70% of that increase coming from 18-25 year old users. It was also found that there was a 17% increase in usage among users aged 18-25 globally.
There is generally a peak in activity four days before Valentine’s Day as singles take to Tinder to find a match. The busiest hours tend to be between 9 and 10 pm local time.

In pursuit of an emotional bond this Valentine's Day, users also typically look out for common personality traits, interests or hobbies to connect with someone over. Some of the more popular interests indicated on Tinder would be the love for Horror Movies and the establishment of communication styles like the preference to meet in person.
